Hands On: Adjusting Through the Lens of Elemental Action
Saturday June 14, 2025 8:00am - 9:30am EDT
In this 90 minute teachers practice, we will look at many bodies in several different shapes and address each person's individual needs dependent upon what the body presents. This will assume you have some experience with putting your hands on students and are looking to train your eye to see what exactly each body needs. We will analyze where the body needs more (or less) earth, more (or less) fire, more fluidity, less rigidity, more breath or more space. The result is using hands on adjusting beyond a 101 perspective; you will refine your ability to make the time you spend in a students’ space feel unique , satisfying and revelatory.

Visual Rhetoric in Yoga and Anatomy
Saturday June 14, 2025 10:00am - 11:00am EDT
Images are powerful. Visual rhetoric is how images communicate meaning in much the same way that language is utilized to convey messages. What we see in yoga (through magazines, books, and media) and anatomical images reflect the culture and convey messages whether we are fully aware of them or not. Learn how we can convey and enrich our practice through positive images that reflect our authentic selves.

✴️ Re-Thinking American Yoga: A Movement for Career Yogis & Alternative to Yoga Alliance
Saturday June 14, 2025 4:15pm - 5:15pm EDT
Calling all career yoga teachers! If you own a studio or plan to make a full-time career teaching yoga you do NOT want to miss this historic presentation. Learn how you can become part of a new movement in American Yoga that improves yoga education and your bank account.
For career yogis, sometimes the yoga world feels a little broken...
Yoga teachers don’t seem to make enough money, yoga studios are churning out YTTs just to make ends meet, and the general public has no idea how to find the right teacher for them in a sea of social media that elevates the bendy and beautiful.
The American Yoga Council(AYC)is a new movement in yoga and a web-app being launched at the Berkshire Yoga Festival with the mission of:
  • Re-Imagining Yoga Credentials: Competencies and mentorships are more important than checking boxes. We don’t need more yoga teachers, we need more excellent yoga teachers. Connecting students to teachers through competencies, NOT follower count.
  • Sharing the Revenue: Serious yoga teachers and mentors have a retirement fund, and Yoga Schools get a recurring revenue asset
  • Creating the first vertical network for Yoga: Students can find the right yoga teacher for their needs. Teachers can show their skills, training, experience and lineage.

AYC co-founder Andrew Tanner will sit down with podcaster and long time yoga teacher J. Brown for a presentation, interview and discussion about how we will re-shape the American Yoga landscape in the future.
