Beyond Illusion: A Somatic Approach to Transforming the “Near Enemies”
Thursday June 12, 2025 9:00am - 12:00pm EDT
In this 3-hour intensive, we will explore the concept of "near enemies"—qualities or behaviors that appear virtuous on the surface but can subtly undermine our growth, relationships, and authenticity. Rooted in teachings from yoga philosophy, psychology, and recovery frameworks, this session will help participants uncover how these disguised habits can keep us disconnected from ourselves and others.

Through guided reflection, experiential exercises, and somatic practices, you’ll learn to distinguish near enemies from their true counterparts, such as how pity masquerades as compassion or indifference as equanimity. Together, we’ll cultivate awareness, resilience, and tools to realign with genuine values, fostering deeper connection and transformation.
Whether you’re on a path of personal growth, recovery, or spiritual development, this workshop offers insight and practices to support living with integrity and truth.

Finding the Middle: Balance in the Midst of Chaos
Friday June 13, 2025 8:00am - 9:30am EDT
In a world filled with inevitable chaos—be it the demands of daily life, personal challenges, or the turbulence of political and social unrest—finding balance can feel elusive at best, impossible at worst. This immersive 90-minute experience will explore navigating the dynamic tension between opposites: effort and ease, strength and surrender, the external and the internal.
We’ll begin by setting the context, examining how "the middle" offers a place of integration, stability, and presence even when life feels completely unpredictable. Together, we’ll reflect on how societal and personal upheaval shape our sense of balance, using guided discussion to unpack what’s really going on beneath the surface. From there, we’ll take it to the mat with a yoga practice designed to help find balance in the body, deepen mindfulness, and reconnect with the inner center that steadies us in times of external turmoil.
This session is open to everyone, no matter where you are in your practice or your life. Whether you’re looking for practical tools to handle the madness, a deeper dive into yoga philosophy, or just a moment to pause, breathe, and recalibrate—you’ll find it here. Let’s meet in the middle.

Trauma-Informed Strategies for Public Group Classes FULL
Friday June 13, 2025 8:00am - 9:30am EDT
Are you a yoga teacher interested in working with populations who have experienced trauma?

Have you ever felt worried you might "trigger" a student by saying or cueing the wrong thing?

Specialized "trauma-informed" yoga classes can offer those who've experienced trauma with the tools to support healing and post-traumatic growth.

But what can teachers who don't have this specialized training do in their general group classes to create a safe and supportive environment for anyone who walks through the door?

In this workshop, Lauren Turner calls upon her experience working with Veterans and First Responders to share key strategies for how to incorporate trauma-informed principles into general group classes.

What we'll cover:
  • A shared definition of what "trauma-informed yoga" is
  • An overview of the anatomy of stress and the relationship between yoga & PTSD
  • Outline the differences between a "trauma-informed" yoga class and a general group class
  • Identify key principles when working with those who experience trauma and discuss how best to incorporate into a public class setting
  • Discuss strategies to promote safety in public group classes
  • Work as a group to share specific examples of how these strategies can show up in our teaching
The goal of this workshop is to increase the confidence of yoga instructors working in public group settings and give them tools to support their students.

The session is not designed to be a replacement for trauma-informed yoga techniques. It may however serve as a stepping stone for those who are interested in continued education in the topic.

The session will combine lecture (60%) with group discussion (40%)

Expanding Our Perspective: Reframing Addiction, Recovery, Healing, and Wholeness
Friday June 13, 2025 12:30pm - 1:30pm EDT
This engaging session explores addiction through a bold, multidimensional lens. Far from being just an individual struggle, addiction is deeply woven into cultural, social, and systemic patterns that are often ignored, dismissed, or misunderstood. True healing requires more than personal change—it’s about integration: within ourselves, our communities, and the broader systems and structures of society as a whole.
Rooted in yoga philosophy, lived experience, and an exploration of the politics of addiction, this session invites attendees to ask new questions, challenge old narratives, and reimagine recovery as a path to deeper connection and wholeness. Through practical insights and heartfelt reflection, this session offers a holistic approach to healing that supports both personal and collective transformation.
